In memory of Betsy Hall

Elizabeth “Betsy” Holmes Hall

On Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at 9:15am, Betsy Hall entered into the realized presence of her precious Lord. Following a valiant battle with breast cancer, Betsy (known as Grams to the most important people in her life) departed this life peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

Betsy lived love. She was fiercely loyal to her beloved Dudley, and she loved her children, children-in-law, and grandchildren to a depth that could only be surpassed by the unconditional love of Almighty God himself. If you knew her, you knew what it felt like to be loved. Betsy modeled the posture of Christ as a servant. She wore out more than one prayer journal faithfully asking, knocking, and seeking on behalf of her family, friends and loved ones. She encouraged everyone she encountered – surreptitiously remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and all kinds of significant dates with a loving note in a sweet card along with a prayer.

Betsy’s favorite devotional was Paul David Tripp’s New Morning Mercies. In the July 30th entry, Tripp asks: “What could be a greater, higher honor than to be a chosen instrument for the most important renewal project in the universe – redemption?” His point is that being a recipient of redemption necessarily means you are an instrument of redemption.
Betsy lived both roles to the fullest: She reveled in the delight of being a recipient of redemption, but no one would hold her back in being an instrument of redemption, proclaiming the joy of her salvation to everyone who would listen.

Betsy will be missed every single day. We aren’t quite sure what life will look like without her presence in this world. However, we grieve our loss with hope in the final resurrection and certainty that Betsy is enjoying the reward of a good and faithful servant, experiencing the ecstasy of worshipping in the visible presence of the Lord she worshipped so devotedly here.

Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 1 at J. E. Foust & Son Funeral Home at 523 South Main Street in Grapevine, Texas. A memorial service celebrating Betsy’s life will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, August 2 at Sojourn Church at 4041 Marsh Lane in Carrollton, Texas. The memorial service will be live-streamed.
